Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced Laboratory Testing & Analysis
Conduct complex diagnostic tests in hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunology, histopathology, and molecular biology.
Interpret test results and ensure accuracy before reporting.
Correlate lab findings with clinical conditions to assist physicians.
2. Sample Management
Oversee the collection, labeling, and processing of patient specimens.
Ensure proper handling, preservation, and storage of samples.
Verify quality of samples before testing.
3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Operate and calibrate advanced diagnostic machines (automated analyzers, PCR machines, blood gas analyzers, etc.).
Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs.
Implement and monitor equipment maintenance schedules.
4. Quality Assurance & Safety
Establish and follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs.
Ensure compliance with biosafety standards and regulatory guidelines.
Train staff in safe handling of biohazard materials and disposal protocols.
5. Supervision & Training
Supervise medical laboratory technicians, assistants, and interns.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to SOPs.
Train new staff on updated technologies and best practices.
6. Data Analysis & Reporting
Validate test results before forwarding to physicians.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
Collaborate with clinicians to interpret results for diagnosis and treatment.
7. Research & Development
Participate in clinical research projects and trials.
Develop and validate new diagnostic methods.
Contribute to publications and laboratory innovations.
8. Professional Development
Keep updated with advancements in laboratory medicine and technology.
Attend workshops, seminars, and continued education programs.
Maintain ethical and professional standards in laboratory practice.
