State Bank of India has released an official notification (Advt No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/01) for the recruitment of Group Chief Economic Advisor (GCEA) on a contract basis for 3 years at its corporate centre in Mumbai.

This is a high-level strategic role where the selected candidate will head the Economic Research Department and act as the bank’s principal economic expert. The role involves analyzing macroeconomic trends, monetary and fiscal policies, and global economic developments to provide strategic insights to top management.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Economics with specialization in Monetary/Financial Economics or Econometrics. A Doctorate in Economics (Money/Banking/International Finance) is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of experience as an economist in banking, financial institutions, corporate organizations, or academia.

Key responsibilities include preparing economic outlook reports, supporting treasury and risk management strategies, guiding the research team, and representing the bank in national and international economic forums.

The selection process includes shortlisting and interview (100 marks) followed by CTC negotiation. The annual compensation can go up to ₹2.00 crore, making it one of the highest-paying banking roles in India.
