Overview:

The B.Tech. in Bioinformatics course is a 4-year full-time undergraduate course divided into 8 semesters and offered by many colleges, universities, and institutes in India. It is an interdisciplinary course that incorporates biological sciences with computational and statistical methods, with a core of technology for the handling and analysis of biological data. The course covers computational biology, molecular modeling, genomics, proteomics, data mining, and bioinformatics algorithms.

This course structure imparts both theoretical knowledge and practical know-how. Students get to apply a set of computational techniques for solving biological problems through a judicious mixture of classroom teaching, laboratory work, and projects. The curriculum prepares the graduates for employment in areas such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and health care.
