The National Council of Training Academy (NCTA) offers a one-year Diploma in Cupping Therapy (Hijama), designed to provide learners with foundational knowledge of cupping therapy, a traditional complementary practice used in various healing systems. The programme introduces students to the history and principles of cupping, types of cupping, equipment and materials, client assessment, hygiene, infection control, and safety practices, with an emphasis on working as a trained support practitioner under qualified professionals and within local regulations.
The course covers the fundamentals of human anatomy and physiology, the origins and principles of cupping and Hijama, dry cupping, wet cupping, and massage cupping awareness, cupping points and body areas, cups and equipment handling, client consultation, indications and contraindications, and aftercare guidance. Students also learn about sterilisation and disinfection, bloodborne pathogen safety, safe handling and disposal of sharps and biomedical waste, consent, documentation, client communication, and ethical practice.
The programme combines theoretical learning with practical demonstrations, supervised hands-on training, and case-based learning to build essential knowledge and safe practice skills.
After completion, graduates may explore opportunities in wellness centres, traditional therapy clinics, and other complementary health settings, subject to applicable qualifications, supervision, and local regulations.
