Overview

Course Objectives

The Bachelor of Library and Information Science course aims at letting students acquire knowledge and an understanding of the basic concepts of library science, information systems, and their applications in real-life situations. The competency to be developed should be in the area of information organization, retrieval, and management in such a way that the pass-outs are competent enough to take up professional positions in libraries, archives, and information centers.

It aims at inculcating in students traditional libraries, innovations brought by technology in the library field, and equipping them entirely to handle the dynamic nature of information science. Graduates will be able to manage different kinds of information resources, serve diversified user needs, and contribute to promoting access to knowledge and sharing at the development levels of library systems.
