Overview

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and the mind. It deals with both human and non-human behavior, conscious and unconscious phenomena, and mental processes such as thoughts, feelings, and motives. Psychology is also an area of academic study with enormous scope that bridges the boundaries between the natural and social sciences. 

The Master of Arts in Psychology is a full-time course of 2 years, divided into 4 semesters, and provides an in-depth study of the theoretical aspects of psychology, methods of research, interventions towards mental health, and behavioral science.
 

Course Objectives

MA in Psychology will train the students in advanced psychological theories and practices that incorporate critical thinking and methodologies of research useful in the psychological profession to provide evidence-based solutions for complex psychological problems.

Core knowledge areas to which students will have access in-depth include; cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, psychopathology and clinical interventions. It is also emphatic on the application of psychological principles, so students will be prepared for mental health services, counseling, research, and educational areas. The program will create the skills for independent research and culminate with a thesis highlighting a student's ability to apply theories from psychology and research methods to a specific problem.
