Master of Arts (M.A) in Public Administration

By NCTA Duration: 2 Years Code: UDC-547

Overview

Public Administration is the field of study and practice concerned with the management and organization of public sector institutions, as well as implementing public policies. It constitutes the design, implementation, and analysis of the government's policies and programs destined for prompt and effective service to the general public.

Master of Arts in Public Administration is a two-year postgraduate program spread across four semesters. This course is designed in such a way as to provide students with a clear understanding of public administration—its principles, practices, and challenges in the management of public sector organizations. It will focus on the role of public administration in the formation and execution of public policies, governance, and organizational management in the public sector.

It covers areas in public administration that include governance structures, public policy analysis, administrative theories, and management practices. Students will engage in issues related to public sector management, formulation and implementation of policies, and societal development based on the impacts of administrative practices. This program is ideal for those interested in pursuing careers in public administration, policy analysis, public sector management, and related fields.

Course Objectives

The program is designed to foster leadership and management capabilities within public sector organizations. During the course of the program, students will become familiar with issues such as strategic planning, organizational behavior, and public finance while acquiring skills of management of public resources and leading teams effectively. Other than management, this sharpens analytical capabilities in the way that students remain engaged in critical assessments of policies and develop the capability to come up with data-driven solutions to complex problems within the public domain.

This moral dimension merges with education on global governance systems, whereby students become familiar with international best practices and the comparative functioning of public institutions within varying cultural and administrative settings.
