Overview

MA in English is a comprehensive two-year program that enhances the deep understanding of English literature, language, and critical theory among students. It remains comprehensive in the exploration of a broad range of genres and periods in literature, starting from classical texts to works of contemporary writers. It also specializes in advanced language skills, critical analyses, and methodologies of research. Students develop a sophisticated understanding of English literature across a wide range of periods, contexts, and genres through taught modules, seminars, and independent study.
 

Course Objectives

The program focuses much on developing creativity and critical thinking, thus providing an impetus for students to make cross-disciplinary linkages and consider literature related to modern issues. Through the interaction of diverse views and the application of theoretical concepts, students will gain a versatile knowledge base regarding the function of literature in mirroring and modeling cultural and social contexts.

The program is capped by a thesis project that allows students to conduct important research on any topic of their choice, thus proving that they are capable of producing top-class academic work. The final project improves not only their research and writing abilities but also contributes to the general knowledge base available in English studies.
