Overview

Master of Arts in History is a postgraduate course spread over a period of two years, across four semesters, designed  for students in view of an extensive learning program to apprehend historical occurrences, theories, and techniques. It assesses ancient, medieval, and modern history from a global, Indian perspective. This program is available at most universities across India.

The program, brings students to various historiographical approaches, including being able to appreciate cultural, political, social, and economic changes over time. They would be able to think critically about historical evidence, develop their argument on an informed basis and present it effectively. This course is suitable for those who wish to make careers in teaching, research, historical preservation, and related fields.


Course Objectives

The program is aimed at engaging students in a  comprehensive survey of historical facts, ideas, and methodologies that would aid in a fine-tuned understanding of the Indian and world histories. The course invites students into a critical understanding of historical narratives and provides rich lessons related to the cultural, political, and social transformations that went on to shape human civilizations over time.
